Our Favorite Email Marketing Software: Why and Who They’re Good For

Although email marketing is perhaps the original form of digital marketing, today it’s still one of the most effective. More than 40 years after the first email marketing campaign was sent out on the World Wide Web, businesses and brands are still trying to optimize their strategies for the more than 40 billion users on the web.

As the digital marketing world has grown, so have the software services that make sending email campaigns easy and effective. There are a myriad of options out there, and as a digital marketing agency, we’ve worked with a lot of them! We’ll go through our favorites.

Klaviyo

Klaviyo is one of our favorite email marketing softwares, and it works best for e-commerce brands that use Shopify or WooCommerce. Klaviyo offers email and SMS marketing, with hundreds of templates and integrations. We recommend this to a lot of mid-sized companies, and love that it’s an affordable price—you’re only paying for the contacts you have. 

In addition to the price, the software itself is one of the most user-friendly interfaces we’ve seen yet. From setting up email and SMS automations to creating segmented audiences, we find that Klaviyo makes things simple with lots of resources available. Their team is always available during business hours for support, and they do a great job of onboarding when you are first getting started.

Iterable

Iterable is another cross-channel marketing platform that goes even further to offer mobile push notifications, in-app notifications, and web push. This makes Iterable a great choice for mobile apps, or companies who offer app downloads. In fact, if you’re marketing a mobile app, Iterable should be an obvious choice given their app-friendly features and templates.

Similar to Klaviyo, Iterable gives the option for users to create granular audiences through segmentation, which is a crucial tool for email softwares to have these days. As for the design, users are able to easily customize their campaigns and workflows to look professional and be “on brand” without needing to know any code.

Hubspot

Last, but not least, Hubspot is a full-service CRM offering everything and anything you could think of. We recommend Hubspot to e-commerce businesses and any large businesses, as Hubspot truly can offer the most advanced features of any software. While creating an email campaign or workflow from scratch through Hubspot is very easy, users also have the option to go into the source code and change anything they need to, making your designs highly customizable. Likewise, their smart content features make for really efficient, user-friendly, and scalable emails, landing pages, forms, and more.

Hubspot also offers a really intuitive workflow builder, making automation that much easier. We love how simple it can be to personalize emails through Hubspot, whether using an email subscriber’s lifecycle stage, list membership, or any information in their context record to automatically serve up the most relevant subject lines, links, attachments, and CTAs.
